Graphic OverLamination; Choices
HEAT LAMINATES:
3 ML, 5 ML, 10 ML. These laminates can be combined together, one on the top and one on the bottom with the graphic sandwiched in the middle, to make different thicknesses for protection and performance. You can have your graphics encapsulated with a 3/3, 5/5, 10/10, or a 3/5, 5/10 or more combinations. Heat Laminates can be used to encapsulate a graphic which will protect it from wet weather. These Laminates come in different finishes also, like; Embossed, White Backer, Glossy, Lustre, and Matte. Roll widths up to 62″ are available at ICL Imaging. Heat Laminates are also less expensive than Cold Laminates.
COLD LAMINATES:
There are many types of Cold OverLaminates available. Here is a list of the Graphic OverLamination choices inventoried at ICL Imaging.
- UV OverLaminate with; Lustre combined with a 10 MIL Gloss for graphic panels
- 5 and 10ML Embossed Laminate providing scratch resistant protection
- 2ML Cast Laminate; perfect for Vehicles with compound curves.
- UV Calendered Laminate finishes; Glossy, Matte, Lustre to protect your printed graphics
- 2ML Brick Wall Graphic OverLamination
- Sidewalk OverLaminate providing a non-skid OSHA approved surface for safe walking
- Dry Erase OverLaminate; use it over and over again with write on – wipe off markers.
- Graffiti OverLaminate; Graffiti can be easily removed with common cleaners from this laminate.
- Floor Graphic OverLamination a scuff-resistant transparent calendered film that is slip-resistant
- Textured Laminates available in; 5ML, 10ML, and 15ML. These can also be combined for durability and performance.
- Vehicle OverLaminates; a clear cast overlaminate with a permanent pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA)
- Window Perf OverLaminates; a glossy, optically clear, cast overlaminate for Perforated Window Film. It protects against dust and dirt that can form on exterior window graphics.
MORE ABOUT LAMINATION:
Different types of Laminations are used for various applications. Liquid Lamination provides a clear protection and helps reduce fading but does not protect as well as Film Lamination. Film Lamination can protect better than Liquid Lam however, Film Lam can not stand up to the rigors of bending and waving if used on a banner. Liquid lamination is best for a banner.
The difference between Cast and Calendared films:
Cast film is made from high grade materials that are highly durable, dimensionally stable and thin. Cast films maintain their color better than Calendared films and are ideal for outdoor applications and vehicle wraps that require stretching over compound curves.
Calendared films are stiffer and thicker providing easier handling. It is less expensive than cast and performs very well on short term applications on simple flat surfaces. It is less dimensionally stable, less durable. and conformable than cast.
ICL Imaging does recommend OverLaminating with a UV Laminate to provide protection and to decrease fading over time. Laminates are available in Matte, Glossy, and Lustre as well as embossed.
